Innovate the Steve Jobs Way!
Not exactly sure how I came across this article, document, or whatever you want to call it by columnist, Carmine Gallo, at BusinessWeek.com.
But I decided to open and read it this afternoon and I'm sure glad I did.
It's entitled…
"Innovate the Steve Jobs Way ~ 7 insanely different principles for breakthrough success."
And I thought you might enjoy reading it too. So I thought I'd share it with you here.
You'll definitely want to download and save the complete article.
But here's the 7 principles in a nutshell…
Principle One: Do what you love.
Principle Two: Put a dent in the universe.
Principle Three: Kick start your brain.
Principle Four: Sell dreams, not products.
Principle Five: Say no to 1,000 things.
Principle Six: Create insanely great experiences.
Principle Seven: Master the message.
Not sure how you feel about it, but I sure try to live by at least most of the principles include here. Click here to download the article in PDF format!
Enjoy!

How I Accidentally Deleted My Entire Blog & How You Can Avoid Making The Same Mistake!
About a year and a half ago, I logged into my wordpress administration panel for my Webinar Secrets Blog because I wanted to create a new post with a video.
This is something that normally takes me about 5 or 10 minutes, and I'm done with it.
But this time when I logged in, I saw a message that said an update is available…
"Please update now!"… It looked something like this…

So I clicked the button to update and was taken to another page that said…
"Important: before updating, please back up your database and files. For help with updates, visit the Updating WordPress Codex page."
And even though the BIG RED WARNING on the Updating WordPress Codex page scared the crap out of me, I figured, "How hard could it be?" and proceeded with the "not so easy to understand" instructions.

After doing my best to follow the complicated backup instructions, I thought it was safe to go ahead and upgrade my wordpress installation. So I went ahead and clicked the "Update Automatically" button.

And that's when "IT" happened!
With the click of a button, my entire blog was gone!
Having backed up my blog (or so I thought), I stayed calm, didn't FREAK OUT, and I searched for documentation on how to restore my blog from the back up I had created.
Pretty simple right?… Well, not quite!
Apparently, I screwed something up during the process of backing up OR with the restoration process. And to this day, I still have no idea where I went wrong!
What I do know is that I had to re-install my blog, set up my theme and re-install all my plugins. Then I had to re-write and re-post about a year's worth of articles and videos.
Lesson learned?
Find a better backup and restoration solution! The criteria I was looking for?
- A complete solution that would not only back up my database, but my entire website, including all my themes, plugins and settings.
- A complete solution that would allow me to easily restore my entire site, including all my themes, plugins and settings in case I blow it again.
- A complete solution that would allow me to back up and move my entire wordpress website or blog, including all my themes, plugins and settings to a new hosting account.
And after downloading, purchasing and testing half a dozen or so, I found exactly what I was looking for!
It's call WordPress Twin… And it's fantastic!
In fact, I just moved The Big Webinar Website to a new hosting account as a test, and it worked like a charm. And the entire process took about 20 minutes.
I was going to create some videos to show you how it works. But there's videos that show you how it works on the WordPress Twin website. You can see it in action here!

My First Official Tim Romero Online Blog Post…
… Actually this is an introduction to a 5 Part training series called "How to set up your own website you control."
But first I want to tell you how this came about…
I was talking with my friend, and one of my mentors, Coach Freddie, a few days ago about some of the awesome web design and Internet marketing tools we have at our disposal these days.
We spoke about how it's become so much easier, not to mention, so much more affordable, to manage our own websites and marketing campaigns and so on.
For example, back in 1998 when I first got started online, I was paying around $125 a month for website hosting and $70 just to register a domain name for two years.
I was paying my webmaster around $150 an hour to make changes to my website, and the first email list management service I was using from Microsoft was costing me around $800 a year.
Average monthly expenses just for the basics?… Around $350 per month.
This seemed completely reasonable to me because I was running my remodeling company out of my home at the time. And I was paying way more than that just for my bond, liablility insurance, tools and vehicle maintenance, not to mention all the gasoline I was burning up running around town doing estimates and driving to job sites every day.
Fortunately, I didn't have to lease a store front or commercial office space, which allowed me to get started on a shoe string budget. Otherwise, I probably would not have been able to afford to get my business off the ground.
My whole point is this…
Even though by today's standards, $350 a month seems like a lot of money just to keep a website up and running, I'm sure you'll agree that it's a drop in the bucket compared to starting and operating an offline, brick and mortar business.
But my how things have changed!
With all the great technology and resources at our disposal today, I can literally register a domain name for just $8.67, buy a hosting account for less than $100 a year, and set up list management for only $19 a month!
AND since I discovered a free, open source content management system, called WordPress a few years ago, I can have a website up and running in about an hour, without hiring a webmaster!
And even though I plan to make a few bucks setting up Worpress websites for other small business owners, like myself, I like to help people the old fashioned way:
By telling them the truth!
And the truth is that getting your own website up and running is not rocket science. In fact, if you can copy and paste and point and click your mouse, you too can get your own site up and running in less than an hour… That means today!
SO I decided to go ahead and create some step-by-step training videos to show you exactly how to do it.
